Who Needs Heart and Vascular Screenings?
Heart screening is recommended for people who are age 40 and above with no:
- History of coronary artery disease diagnosed by a doctor
- Prior heart attacks
- Previous testing that shows heart artery blockage
- Symptoms that make you worry about your heart
- Chest pains
- Shortness of breath
- Palpitations
- Coronary calcification test done within last five years
If you're younger than 40 or have experienced any of the conditions listed above, speak with your provider to get a referral for a heart scan.
Vascular screening is recommended for those who:
- Are age 50 or above
- Have diabetes
- Smoke cigarettes or have a history of smoking
